SB-805 The No Vigilantes Act
This bill, proposed by Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, was created in order to curtail the impersonation of police officers due to the rise of law enforcement-style operations and nationwide reports of individuals posing as immigration officers. This bill will strengthen already existing police impersonation laws in California by requiring law enforcement to have their identification visible, allow law enforcement to question and ask for identification from individuals claiming to be police officers, will prohibit bounty hunters from being involved in immigration and other items to combat such matters.
The bill is currently up for a second review.

SB-627 No Secret Police Act
Currently, there is an existing law that makes it a misdemeanor to wear a mask, false whiskers, or any personal disguise, as specified, with the purpose of evading or escaping discovery, recognition, or identification while committing a public offense, or for concealment, flight, evasion, or escape from arrest or conviction for any public offense. This proposed bill would update the existing law to prohibit local, state, and federal law enforcement officers from covering their faces while on duty; only with some specified exceptions. This bill aims to help protect the locals of California and reduce the acts of vigilantes and impersonation of law enforcement.
This bill is currently up for a second review.
